Dr Kem Thompson is a GP in London. In addition to helping people in her day-to-day work, Kem is committed to empowering women to improve the quality of their lives through faith in God, self-belief, personal development and appropriate ACTION. Guided by her own life experience, training, personal philosophy and deep Christian faith, Kem has developed a number of self-help tools for women… that really work.

Her aim is to help women overcome negative thinking and lack of self-esteem and life direction, to fulfil their true potential for success.

Background

Kem was born in Zambia to Nigerian parents, both medical academics. Her family moved back to Nigeria when she was two, and she spent her childhood there.

Having studied first at the University of Nigeria, Kem moved to the University of Papua New Guinea to take a medical degree. Her first job was in a hospital on the beautiful island of Samoa.

She married and soon relocated to the UK, where her son was born in 2000. During her career break to bring up her child, Kem sought activities that would satisfy her appetite for combining motherhood with work.

"I knew I had a flair for personal development, motivating others and self-help and for putting together inspirational material - and I wanted to do more with that… specifically to help women," she says. "I also wanted to work that into motherhood and a career."

Kem studied for a Diploma in Performance Coaching and established a business as a life coach. She built the practice through the Internet, writing e-newsletters and articles that supported and helped women. Within six months, she had an international client list from four continents, many of whom remain in touch with her today.

Just as her coaching business was getting under way, she was offered the chance to teach at a new international medical school in London. The experience fired her to return to medical practice. 

Kem is 36, and lives in London with her son Davy.  Now a single parent, she has total empathy with women in a similar position. "I have had to learn to deal with the hardships and anxieties of separation and single parenthood, to pick up the pieces and start my life over again," she says. "I am driven to help other women who could be suffering in similar ways."

The Foundation…

Underpinning Kem's work is a profound Christian belief. The principles of her Success and Personal Development strategies are based on the teachings of the Bible. "The thinking patterns that have empowered me to overcome my challenges time after time can be found within its pages" she says.

In the her life coaching, web programmes and now in Inspirational Blueprints for Personal Success and Inspirational Blueprints for Health and Wellness, Kem has found a practical way to share these principles and thinking patterns in a common sense yet highly motivational way.
